Brevard football: Heritage stays perfect in district play; MCC wins third straight
Five Week 7 results, including wins for Astronaut and Palm Bay before their October 9 district matchup.
Heritage stayed unbeaten in district play with a 29–0 road win at Sebastian River on Friday, October 2, while Melbourne Central Catholic beat Rockledge 21–10 at home. Those results lead this look at five Brevard varsity football games from Week 7, using MaxPreps results updated October 3.
Heritage’s district wins all come by shutout
The Panthers improved to 4–3 overall and 3–0 in Class 4A, District 13. They have not allowed a point in their three district games: 48–0 against Legacy, 38–0 against Westwood and now 29–0 at Sebastian River. That district run contrasts with their 1–3 record outside the district.
Heritage’s next listed game is another district matchup, at home against Jensen Beach on Friday, October 9, at 7 p.m.
MCC makes it three straight wins
Melbourne Central Catholic’s 21–10 win over Rockledge brought the Hustlers to 5–1 overall. It was their third consecutive victory, following wins over Father Lopez and Wildwood. Rockledge was a non-district opponent; MCC’s district record remains 2–0. The Hustlers’ next listed game is October 16 at Pahokee.
Astronaut and Palm Bay win before meeting each other
Astronaut beat Space Coast 29–18 at home to reach 3–3 overall. Palm Bay beat Cocoa Beach 50–0 at home, ending a four-game losing streak and moving to 2–4. Neither result changed the winners’ 0–2 district records.
The two winners are scheduled to meet at Palm Bay on Friday, October 9, at 7 p.m. That matchup is listed as a Class 3A, District 8 game on both schedules.
Cocoa falls at The First Academy
The First Academy defeated Cocoa 49–3 in a district game. The Tigers are 1–4 overall and 0–1 in Class 2A, District 5. Cocoa’s next listed game is at home against Centennial on October 9 at 7 p.m.
