Melbourne beats Viera 42–13, leaving both 1–1 in district football
The Bulldogs improved to 4–2 overall. Both teams now face three consecutive district games, starting with home matchups on October 9.
Melbourne High beat Viera 42–13 at home in varsity football on Friday, October 2. The result brought the Bulldogs to 4–2 overall and left the Hawks at 3–3, with both teams now 1–1 in Class 5A, District 5, according to their updated MaxPreps schedules.
For Melbourne, the win evened its district record after a 48–24 loss at Oviedo on September 10. Viera had entered this matchup with a district win over Lyman. Friday’s result therefore gave both Brevard teams one district win and one district loss, despite their different overall records.
The next three games listed for each team are district contests. On Friday, October 9, Melbourne is scheduled to host Lake Howell and Viera to host Oviedo, both at 7 p.m. Melbourne then has East River away on October 16 and Lyman at home on October 23. Viera’s corresponding games are at Lake Howell and home against East River.
That schedule gives local fans a three-week run of district matchups to follow. The records and upcoming games here come from the two team schedules checked October 3; times can change.
