The Wizard of Oz Museum opened its doors in a new 10,000-square-foot building on Cocoa Beach's north side on August 18, 2026. Owners Fred and Palina Trust confirmed the move from Cape Canaveral, where the museum operated since 2022. The new space includes exhibits featuring over 2,000 artifacts, such as Judy Garland's Dorothy dress, a Winkie Guard spear, and ruby red slippers previously displayed in Disney's Great Movie Ride queue.
The museum's collection includes items loaned from private collectors and institutions. Palina Trust highlighted the significance of the relocation: 'This building allows us to display more artifacts and create a better experience for visitors.' The previous Cape Canaveral location occupied 6,000 square feet. The new facility features interactive displays, a theater for daily shows, and expanded storage for the museum's growing collection.
The museum's move follows a $3.2 million renovation project completed in early 2026. Construction began in late 2025 after the Trust secured a 15-year lease on the former Ocean Resort condominium complex. The building's emerald green exterior and yellow brick road motif were designed to mirror the book's imagery. Admission prices remain unchanged at $22 for adults and $15 for children.
Trust said the museum has sold out weekend tickets since opening. The new location is expected to generate $2.5 million annually in economic impact for Cocoa Beach. The museum plans to add a 3D projection show about the 1939 film's production by 2027. The previous Cape Canaveral site will remain open for tours through December 2026 while the new facility undergoes its first major exhibit refresh.
