Workers with KAST Construction are setting beams for the parking garage as part of the Westin Resort & Spa project in Cocoa Beach. The resort is being built on the former International Palms Resort site, an oceanfront property spanning over 15 acres. The new hotel is expected to include multiple food-and-beverage venues, a spa, a surfing wave pool, several swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, and a fitness center. Construction began in early 2026 after the site was acquired by the developer in 2024.
The project is part of a larger effort to revitalize Cocoa Beach’s tourism infrastructure. KAST Construction has been focused on the parking garage and convention center sections, which are critical for accommodating guests and events. The resort’s design includes a mix of luxury accommodations and recreational facilities aimed at attracting both families and business travelers. Local officials have noted the project’s potential to boost the area’s economy, though no official job numbers have been released.
The Westin’s amenities are still in the planning phase, but preliminary designs show a focus on outdoor activities. The surfing wave pool, a first for the Space Coast, is expected to be a major draw. The resort will also feature a convention center, which could host conferences and weddings. Environmental impact assessments were completed in late 2025, with measures in place to protect nearby marine life.
Residents near the site have mixed reactions. Some welcome the economic opportunities, while others are concerned about increased traffic and noise during construction. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2027, pending final approvals. Developers have not yet announced the resort’s opening date or pricing for rooms.
