Residents of Brevard County can cast their votes for the PuroClean of Melbourne Girls Athlete of the Week through April 23. The ballot is available at floridatoday.com, with voting restricted to once per device per hour. The deadline to submit votes is noon on Thursday, April 23. Last week’s winner was Parker Morrison of Merritt Island Christian softball.
Seven athletes are nominated for their performances between April 13 and 19. I’Yana Barnes of Cocoa track won the 110 Hurdles (15.60) and 400 Hurdles (1:10.17) at the District 7-2A championships on April 17. Raleigh Edwards of Astronaut softball had 3 hits with 6 RBI and 2 runs in a 21-3 win over Titusville on April 13. Lilly Rollinger of Melbourne Central Catholic softball pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 batters in a 13-1 win over Cocoa on April 17.
Other nominees include Ana Muniz of Space Coast softball, who had 3 hits with a triple, 3 RBI, and a run in a 19-8 win over Heritage on April 14. Abigail Latulippe of Eau Gallie softball contributed 3 hits, a home run, 5 RBI, and a run scored in a 6-1 win over Merritt Island on April 14. Audra Prill of Edgewood lacrosse scored 4 goals in a 9-8 overtime win over Holy Trinity to claim the District 5-1A championship on April 15.
Kellibelle Bono of Merritt Island Christian softball had 2 hits with a home run, 5 RBI, and a run scored in a 12-2 win over Bayside on April 16. Coaches and athletic directors can nominate athletes by emailing [email protected] with accomplishments from the previous Monday through Saturday by 10 a.m. each Sunday.
