Residents and fans of Brevard County sports have until noon on Thursday, Feb. 26, to cast their votes for the PuroClean of Melbourne Boys Athlete of the Week. The ballot is available at 321preps.com and floridatoday.com, with votes restricted to once per device per hour. The previous winner was Javier Loza of Cocoa Beach soccer, who claimed the title in the 2025-26 season. Coaches and athletic directors can nominate athletes each week by emailing [email protected] with accomplishments from the prior Monday through Saturday by 10 a.m. each Sunday.
This week's nominees include KJ Jones of Eau Gallie baseball, who drove in three runs and hit a home run in a win over New Smyrna Beach on Feb. 20. Aaron Horr of Cocoa Beach wrestling secured the 165-pound title at the District 8-1A competition on Feb. 19, helping his team win the district championship. Trenten Kelly of Titusville track and field placed first in the shot put (48'8.75) and discus (146'11) at the Rockledge Raider Classic on Feb. 21.
Sieryous Peterson of Heritage wrestling captured the 120-pound championship at the District 13-2A competition on Feb. 17, contributing to Heritage's team title. Dustin Strom of Holy Trinity soccer made two crucial saves on indirect free kicks in the Class 2A state championship against Episcopal on Feb. 18 and added three saves in a penalty shootout victory over Westminster Christian in the state semifinals on Feb. 17.
