Residents and sports fans in Brevard County can cast their votes for the PuroClean of Melbourne Boys Athlete of the Week, with the ballot available online through May 7. The voting period runs until noon on Thursday, May 7, and is restricted to one vote per device per hour. The winner for the previous week was Christopher Gordon of Rockledge track. A full list of past winners for the 2025-26 season is posted at the bottom of the voting page.
Six athletes were nominated for their performances between April 27 and May 3. Rylan Reyes of Cocoa Beach track led the pack with standout results at the Class 2A, Region 2 meet, winning the 1600m (4:32.15), contributing to the first-place 4x800 relay, and finishing second in the 4x400 relay. He also took third in the 800m. Jesse Decter of Merritt Island baseball pitched 5 2/3 innings in a 3-2 playoff win over American Heritage, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out seven.
Michal Paul of Viera track claimed first in the 400-meter dash (48.17) at the Class 4A, Region 2 meet and was part of the second-place 4x400 relay. Nathaniel Owens of Heritage track won both the long jump (7.44m) and triple jump (14.63m) at the same meet. Desmond Scott Jr. of Rockledge track took first in the high jump (2.03m) at the Class 3A, Region 4 meet. Evan Spreitzer of Holy Trinity track dominated the distance events, winning the 1600m (4:23.65) and 3200m (9:16.39) and helping his 4x800 relay to first place.
Coaches and athletic directors can nominate athletes each week by emailing accomplishments from the previous Monday through Saturday to [email protected] by 10 a.m. each Sunday. The ballot for this week's vote is at the bottom of the voting page, which may require refreshing if not immediately visible. Votes are due by noon on May 7.
