A Virginia-based homebuilder has acquired Holiday Builders, a Melbourne-based company that has been a staple of Florida's construction industry for over four decades. The acquisition was finalized July 30, according to company officials. Holiday Builders, founded in 1983, became the nation's first employee-owned homebuilder in 1999. It now operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stanley Martin Homes, the 18th largest homebuilder in the United States.
Holiday Builders currently builds in 30 cities across Florida, with its corporate office in Melbourne supported by regional offices in Cape Coral, Port St. Lucie, Winter Haven, Lecanto, and Pensacola. These locations cover more than 27 communities and 14 scattered lot markets. Bruce Assam, president and CEO of Holiday Builders, said the company is 'proud of the foundation' it has built across Florida and 'excited to join the Stanley Martin Homes organization.'
Stanley Martin Homes, based in Reston, Virginia, has been building homes since 1966. The company operates in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. Both companies share a focus on quality craftsmanship and community service. Holiday Builders was named Best Homebuilder in Brevard County in 2024 and 2025 through Florida Today's Community Choice Awards.
The acquisition comes as the housing market in Brevard County continues to grow. Holiday Builders' local presence will remain unchanged, with operations continuing from its Melbourne office. Stanley Martin Homes has not announced any immediate changes to Holiday Builders' existing projects or staff.
