The Viera High School JV lacrosse team defeated Rockledge High School 8-4 on Tuesday, March 11, in a conference game played at Rockledge. The Hawks, who entered the game with a 4-2-1 record, improved to 5-2-1 with the win, while the Raiders fell to 6-5-1. The game was part of the Florida High School Lacrosse Association’s regular season schedule.
Viera scored first in the first quarter, capitalizing on early pressure to take a 3-1 lead. Rockledge responded in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 5-4 at halftime. However, Viera’s defense held strong in the third quarter, limiting Rockledge to just one goal while adding two of their own. The Hawks’ offensive momentum carried into the fourth quarter, where they scored three unanswered goals to seal the victory.
The win moves Viera into a stronger position in their conference standings, while Rockledge’s loss extends their losing streak to three games. Both teams are expected to continue competing in the postseason, though neither has secured a playoff berth yet. The game was the first of two scheduled matchups between the teams this season.
Coaches from both schools did not comment publicly after the game, but officials from the Florida High School Lacrosse Association confirmed the result. The next game for Viera is scheduled for March 18 against West Boca Raton, while Rockledge will host Palm Bay on March 20.
