Viera High School's girls lacrosse team fell to Jupiter High School 9-16 in the 2026 FHSAA Class 2A State Championship Tournament on Saturday, April 25. The game took place at a tournament venue in the Space Coast region, marking the first state championship appearance for Viera's program. Jupiter, which has reached the finals three times in the past five years, dominated the match with strong defensive plays and 12 second-half points. Viera's offense managed to score nine goals but struggled to keep pace with Jupiter's relentless attack. The loss ends Viera's season on a high note after a 14-3 regular-season record. Coach Maria Gonzalez said the team 'played with heart but couldn't close the gap in the final quarter.' The game drew over 300 spectators, many from the Viera and Palm Bay communities. Jupiter's victory advances them to the state title game for the second consecutive year. Final stats show Jupiter outshot Viera 28-14 and controlled the draw 18-6. The championship game will be held at the same venue on Monday, April 27. Viera's players will return to school next week with plans to regroup for the 2027 season.
