Topgolf’s proposed entertainment complex in Brevard County remains active, with the company now seeking approval for a larger version of the project than initially announced. The developer first filed plans for a 13-acre site near the Space Coast’s Indialantic area in 2021, but the project faced setbacks over permitting and environmental reviews. Now, Topgolf says it has revised its blueprint to include additional amenities and a larger footprint. The updated proposal, submitted in March 2024, adds a second driving range and more restaurant space to the original design. Local officials have not yet approved the changes, but the company is pushing for a faster review process. "We’re confident this version of the project will better serve the community," said a Topgolf spokesperson in a statement. The site, located near the intersection of State Road 40 and U.S. 192, has been a topic of discussion among residents and business leaders for years. Some neighbors expressed concerns about traffic and noise during earlier public meetings. The county’s planning department is currently evaluating the new plans, with a public hearing scheduled for May 2024. If approved, construction could begin as early as 2025. The project’s expansion comes as Topgolf continues to grow its presence across Florida, with existing locations in Tampa and Orlando. The company has not disclosed the estimated cost of the Brevard project, but earlier reports suggested it could exceed $100 million. Meanwhile, local officials are balancing development interests with community input. "We need to ensure this project aligns with our long-term goals for the area," said Brevard County Commissioner David McCarthy. The outcome of the upcoming hearing could determine whether the expanded vision becomes a reality.
