Titusville city officials have approved plans for a 106-room Tru Hotel near Interstate 95, marking the first step in a wave of new hotel developments driven by increased tourism tied to the space industry. The 12,423-square-foot hotel, which broke ground in early February, will occupy 1.84 acres and include five stories. Wealth Hospitality, the Mississippi-based developer, highlighted the area's appeal to space program visitors, citing data showing hundreds of thousands of annual tourists and rising hotel rates as key factors. The hotel is expected to open in 2027. A second project, a 120-unit Home2 Suites by Hilton near the Tru Hotel site, is currently in the permitting phase. The 130,000-square-foot property aims to cater to long-term guests, including business travelers drawn to the growing commercial space sector. Titusville Mayor Andrew Connors mentioned during a February 25 council meeting that the city's hotels are increasingly serving government contractors and space industry workers. A third hotel, a Woodspring Hotel at 6275 Riverfront Center Boulevard, is in the early stages of development. Developers have submitted environmental permitting applications to the state, but no timeline has been set for construction. The projects come as Brevard County officials track a 15% annual increase in hotel occupancy rates since 2020, according to county tourism data. Wealth Hospitality's vice president, Marcus Lee, said the Tru Hotel's location near Kennedy Space Center and nearby military installations makes it a logical choice. The company has not disclosed investment figures for the projects. Local real estate agents note that hotel land prices in Titusville have risen 20% since 2022, reflecting heightened demand. The hotels are part of a broader push by Titusville to diversify its economy beyond traditional industries.
