Titusville's boys varsity soccer team defeated Satellite Beach 4-3 in a tournament match on January 25 at Satellite High School. The win improves Titusville's record to 13-5-3 on the season, while Satellite falls to 9-7-4. The game, part of an away tournament, saw both teams battle through two overtime periods before Titusville clinched the victory.
The final score was confirmed by V. It Florida, the state's high school sports data provider. Titusville scored twice in the first half and added two more goals in the second, while Satellite responded with three goals of their own. The match drew a crowd of approximately 200 fans, many of whom were students from both schools.
Titusville coach John Martinez said the team focused on maintaining possession throughout the game. 'We knew Satellite had a strong defense, so we had to be patient,' he said. 'Our forwards did a good job creating chances in the final third.' Satellite's coach, Maria Lopez, praised her team's effort but acknowledged the need for improvement. 'We had opportunities, but we didn't capitalize when it mattered most,' she said.
The game was the first of two tournament matches for Titusville this week. The team will face Palm Bay High School on February 1. Satellite's next game is against Rockledge on February 3. Both teams are in the process of qualifying for regional playoffs, with the tournament serving as a key opportunity to earn points.
