Brevard County is set for a stretch of sunny weather starting October 20th. The National Weather Service forecasts clear skies and daytime highs in the mid-70s to low-80s through October 24th. This comes after a week of scattered showers that kept locals indoors.
The forecast is especially welcome for residents along the coast. Cocoa Beach lifeguards reported lower attendance last week due to rain. Now, with no rain expected, the county’s 12 public beaches are open for swimming, kayaking, and early morning walks. Titusville’s Indian River County Park is preparing for its annual fall festival, which organizers say will have more outdoor vendors than usual.
Temperatures will stay mild during the day but drop to the mid-60s at night. That means no need for jackets during the day but a reminder to bundle up after sunset. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission notes the weather is ideal for fishing charters near the Kennedy Space Center.
Local businesses are already adjusting. The Space Coast Farmers Market in Melbourne expanded its tent space this week to accommodate more vendors. Market manager Lisa Martinez said the dry weather has brought more customers. "We’ve had to add three new tables just to keep up," she said. The market will host a pumpkin patch event on October 22nd, weather permitting.
