St. Cloud State Softball (18-4, 0-0 NSIC) closed its Florida trip with a sweep at the Space Coast Complex in Melbourne on March 7, 2026, defeating Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) 3-2 and Salem (W.Va.) 9-1 in five innings. The Huskies ended the Space Coast Spring Games with a 9-3 record overall, marking their third consecutive win in the event.
In game one, St. Cloud State took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by junior Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.), but Saginaw Valley State tied the game in the bottom of the third. The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on a steal of home, but the Huskies responded in the bottom of the sixth with a two-RBI single from redshirt junior Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.), who drove in the winning run.
Senior pitcher Justyce Porter (Kent, Wash.) earned the win with 2.2 innings of relief, allowing three hits and one run while striking out two. Senior Macey Clark (Winneconne, Wis.) pitched 4.1 innings, giving up six hits and one run with four strikeouts. Sophomore Morgan Honeycutt (Rosemount, Minn.) went 2-3 at the plate, and junior Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) was 2-4.
St. Cloud State improved to 13-4 in neutral site games this season and 8-3 at the Space Coast Spring Games. The Huskies also moved to 3-4 all-time against Saginaw Valley State. The team’s next action is a March 12 doubleheader against North Dakota State in St. Cloud, Minn.
