SpaceX will launch the final three O3b mPOWER satellites for SES from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on September 9, 2026. The Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off between 2:49 p.m. and 4:16 p.m. ET. If the launch is delayed, the next opportunity will be Monday at the same time. This mission marks the completion of the O3b mPOWER constellation, which will provide global connectivity for government, enterprise, and cloud customers.
The launch window is tight, with only a 1 hour and 27-minute window. The mission is the 29th for the Falcon 9’s first-stage booster, B1080, which has previously supported two crewed missions to the International Space Station, including Ax-2 and Ax-3. After stage separation, the booster will land on the droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas in the Atlantic Ocean.
SES, a Luxembourgish-French satellite company, owns the O3b mPOWER satellites. The three final satellites will join 10 others already in medium Earth orbit (MEO), enhancing global broadband coverage. The company said in a press release that the constellation ‘continues to set the standard for global connectivity’ and reinforces SES’s leadership in MEO.
The O3b mPOWER system is designed to deliver low-latency internet to remote areas, supporting maritime, aviation, and land-based users. With this launch, SES will have deployed all 13 satellites in the constellation. The mission is part of SpaceX’s ongoing role in deploying commercial satellites, alongside its Starlink and government contracts.
This is the first launch from Cape Canaveral since SpaceX’s contract with NASA for crewed missions to the space station was extended through 2025. The O3b mPOWER satellites will operate in MEO, a higher orbit than Starlink’s low Earth orbit, allowing for broader coverage with fewer satellites.
