Brevard County's Space Coast set a record with 109 orbital rocket launches in 2025, according to data from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and NASA's Kennedy Space Center. This year, 53 rockets have already launched from Florida, including NASA's Artemis II mission in April. Two launches are scheduled for this week: a SpaceX Starlink mission and NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission on Aug. 30. The Roman Space Telescope launch will use a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket, the first time the telescope will travel to space. The 2025 record was achieved despite a slowdown in 2026. Only six launches occurred in Florida each month from May to July, compared to 109 in 2025. Blue Origin faced a setback in June when its New Glenn rocket exploded during a test at Launch Complex 36, delaying future launches. SpaceX continues its dominance with Falcon 9 rockets on Starlink and AST SpaceMobile missions. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission is expected to begin scientific operations in 2027. Weather conditions will determine the exact launch window for the Aug. 30 mission. The Space Coast's 2026 launch count is on track to surpass 2021's record of 31 launches for the year.
