SpaceX launched its Falcon Heavy rocket at 10:13 a.m. Wednesday from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center, marking the first such mission from Florida since 2024. The rocket carried the ViaSat-3 F3 satellite to geosynchronous transfer orbit, a key step in expanding global broadband capabilities. The launch followed a Monday postponement due to weather conditions that delayed the original scheduled liftoff.

The mission proceeded smoothly after a 24-hour delay, with engineers confirming nominal chamber pressures and successful vehicle orientation during ascent. Falcon Heavy’s two side boosters landed at SpaceX’s Landing Zones 2 and 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, a routine part of the company’s reusable rocket technology. The main booster, however, splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean as planned, completing its fifth flight.

ViaSat-3 F3 is part of a trio of satellites designed to provide low-latency internet across the Americas, with the full constellation expected to be operational by 2027. The satellite’s deployment comes as SpaceX continues to dominate commercial launches from the Space Coast, with over 150 missions launched from the area since 2020.
