A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Monday morning, June 8, 2026, and was visible to some residents along the Treasure Coast more than 100 miles south. The launch occurred at 6:13 a.m. from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Desiree Stonebraker of Port St. Lucie captured a photo of the rocket in flight and shared it with WPBF 25 News. Stonebraker said she saw the rocket’s bright plume against the early morning sky. 'It was incredible to see it so far away,' she said. SpaceX confirmed the launch deployed 29 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit as part of its broadband internet constellation. Vanessa Quirion of Palm City also shared photos and a video of the rocket from her location further south. 'I didn’t expect to see it from here,' Quirion said. The visibility of the rocket from the Treasure Coast highlights how bright the Falcon 9’s first-stage boosters can be during ascent. SpaceX launches from Cape Canaveral are common, but the ability to spot them from coastal areas depends on weather conditions and the rocket’s trajectory. The company has conducted over 100 Falcon 9 launches since 2010, with the majority occurring from Florida’s east coast. Local residents often share photos of launches on social media and with news outlets. WPBF 25 News encouraged others to submit their own images through its uLocal platform. The next SpaceX launch from Cape Canaveral is scheduled for June 22, 2026, pending weather and technical checks.
