The Space Coast Weavers & Fiber Artists group will hold a fiber arts demonstration at 10 a.m. on March 28 at the Merritt Island Public Library. The event will focus on transforming flax fibers into felted art. Ann Welly Revels, an award-winning fiber artist, will lead the demonstration. Revels has received recognition for her work in natural fiber arts and will explain the process of felting flax during the session. The library is located at 1000 S Atlantic Ave in Merritt Island. The demonstration is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions and learn about the history of flax in textile arts. The group meets regularly at the library to share techniques and showcase local fiber art. Revels said the event aims to introduce new audiences to traditional crafting methods. The demonstration will last approximately one hour and will include hands-on examples of flax felting. The Space Coast Weavers & Fiber Artists group was founded in 2015 to promote interest in textile arts across Brevard County.
