A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at sunrise Sunday, July 5, 2026 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station's Space Launch Complex 40 carrying 29 Starlink satellites. The launch marked the 45th orbital mission from the Space Coast this year, according to tracking data. SpaceX alone has accounted for 38 of those flights, including 37 Falcon 9 launches and one Falcon Heavy mission.
The Space Coast ended 2025 with 109 orbital launches, a record set by SpaceX, United Launch Alliance and Blue Origin combined. That total included 83 launches from Cape Canaveral and 26 from Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX alone conducted 101 of those missions, all on Falcon 9 rockets.
2026 is shaping up to be another busy year with 45 projected orbital launches from the Space Coast. Of those, 43 will originate from Cape Canaveral and two from KSC. SpaceX is scheduled for 38 flights, including 37 Falcon 9 and one Falcon Heavy. ULA will conduct five missions - four on Atlas V and one on Vulcan - while Blue Origin will launch its New Glenn rocket on the NG-3 mission. NASA's Space Launch System rocket will also launch on Artemis II, the first crewed mission of the program.
The year 2025 also included four human spaceflights: Crew-10, Fram2, Ax-4 and Crew-11. In 2024, the Space Coast saw 93 launches with five human spaceflights, including Polaris Dawn.
