Brevard County has seen 40 rocket launches through 2026, according to tracking data from the Florida Today. The tally includes SpaceX Starlink missions, NASA test flights, and commercial launches from Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX alone has conducted 25 of those launches, with the most recent mission on December 15 sending 29 Starlink satellites into orbit from Cape Canaveral. "We’re seeing a steady increase in launch activity," said Michael Hughes, the newly appointed Kennedy Space Center director, who took office in November. "This year’s pace is unprecedented." NASA’s X-59 Quiet Supersonic Plane reached supersonic speeds in October during a test flight from the Space Coast, marking a key milestone for the agency’s sonic boom reduction project. Meanwhile, SpaceX’s B1067 booster made its final flight in November, delivering 29 Starlink satellites before retiring. The Space Coast’s launch infrastructure has handled 12 commercial missions this year, including a pre-dawn launch on December 1 that deployed 50 Starlink satellites. The Florida Today also reported that a LEGO Artemis set was released in November to commemorate NASA’s lunar program, though the toy is not directly linked to the Space Coast’s launch activity. With 40 launches already logged, Brevard County is on track to exceed 2025’s total of 36 missions, driven by SpaceX’s Starlink expansion and NASA’s Artemis program preparations.
