Brevard County set a record with 109 orbital rocket launches in 2025, but activity has slowed this year. Through July 2026, 49 rockets launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Kennedy Space Center — more than the 31 recorded in all of 2021. SpaceX remains the dominant force, with Falcon 9 rockets handling most missions. Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket is off the schedule after a 2025 explosion, but a Falcon Heavy will launch NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope in August. A SpaceX Falcon 9 is scheduled for Aug. 10 to deploy 29 Starlink satellites from Launch Complex 40. The mission window runs from 10:49 a.m. to 2:49 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. No sonic booms are expected. On Aug. 30, NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will launch aboard a Falcon Heavy from Kennedy Space Center. The telescope will study dark energy and exoplanets. Residents near Launch Complex 40 should expect increased traffic around Cape Canaveral during the Aug. 10 launch.
