Space Coast Credit Union launched its latest 'Watchdog' campaign this month, featuring two commercials that place the credit union's mascot dog in a soccer match and a Renaissance fair. The ads, part of the 'Banking on It' series, show the dog ignoring words like 'walk' and 'treat' but reacting to terms such as 'checking' and 'banking.' The campaign, developed by Orlando-based agency &Barr, highlights SCCU's focus on member financial security.

The commercials debuted in June and will air through December on TV, connected TV platforms, streaming audio, digital ads, and billboards. English and Spanish versions are included to reach broader audiences. In one spot, the dog is at a soccer game, while another places it in a Renaissance fair setting. Both emphasize the mascot's association with financial protection.

Joelle Hahn, SCCU's senior vice president of marketing, said the campaign aims to show that the credit union's commitment to member safety is constant. 'Every time we put him in a new, unexpected place, it’s a reminder that the protection he represents follows our members everywhere,' she said. The campaign builds on previous 'Watchdog' efforts that have used similar themes over the past decade.

The ads are part of SCCU's ongoing efforts to reinforce its brand identity in Brevard County and beyond. The credit union has no plans to expand the campaign beyond 2026, according to Hahn. The commercials are available online through the credit union's website, though specific links were not included in the initial press materials.
