Space Coast Credit Union has launched the latest chapter of its Watchdog advertising campaign, a series designed to highlight the credit union's role in protecting members' financial interests. The campaign, which debuted in early March 2024, features updated messaging focused on fraud prevention and member education. The credit union said the new ads will air across Brevard County, including on local radio stations and digital billboards in Cocoa and Palm Bay. "This campaign is about empowering our members with the tools they need to stay safe," said Sarah Thompson, a spokesperson for the credit union. "We want to make sure everyone understands how to spot scams and protect their accounts." The Watchdog initiative, which began in 2022, has previously emphasized cybersecurity and identity theft prevention. This iteration includes a new public service video showing real-life scenarios of phishing attempts and how to respond. The credit union also announced a partnership with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to provide free workshops on financial fraud at libraries across the county. The campaign comes as local financial institutions report a 15% increase in fraud attempts since 2023, according to data from the Florida Bankers Association. The new ads will run through June 2024, with plans to evaluate their impact on member engagement and fraud reporting rates. "We’re not just reacting to trends—we’re proactively addressing them," Thompson added. The credit union has not disclosed the budget for the campaign but confirmed it is its largest investment in marketing efforts to date.
