A silent piano concert will take place on Cocoa Beach from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 31 as pianist Murray Hidary returns with his MindTravel experience. The event uses wireless headphones to let attendees listen to live, improvisational piano music while sitting on the beach. Hidary has held similar concerts in the area before and considers Cocoa Beach a perfect location for the MindTravel experience. "Cocoa Beach offers that in a powerful way," Hidary said. "There’s something special about being on the shoreline at sunset." The concert is not truly silent but creates a space for attendees to focus on the music and their own thoughts. "Many people describe MindTravel as a transformational experience," Hidary said. "They often tell me they feel calmer, more connected and more open after the event." The event combines music and mindfulness, with Hidary playing extemporaneous piano for the audience. Some attendees come for the music, others for the mindfulness aspect, and many enjoy the opportunity to share a meaningful experience with family and friends. Hidary has one rule when choosing a venue: The site must be inspiring. He said Cocoa Beach fits that description perfectly. "My goal is always to bring people into deeper connection with themselves, each other and the environment around them," Hidary said. "Cocoa Beach is a beautiful place where nature naturally invites people to slow down and become present." The concert is part of a series that Hidary has brought to Cocoa Beach in the past. He plans to return later this year for more events. The MindTravel experience has drawn attendees who appreciate the blend of live music and mindfulness. Hidary said the concerts are about creating a space for people to reconnect with themselves and their surroundings. "It’s entertaining, sure, but it also offers a way to reconnect with the self, others and the environment," he said.
