A $120 million data services agreement between Sidus and Lonestar Data is set to expand operations on Florida’s Space Coast, according to company officials. The deal, announced this month, will focus on enhancing satellite communication infrastructure and data analytics capabilities for government and commercial clients. Sidus, based in Titusville, has been a key player in the region’s aerospace industry since 2016. Lonestar Data, a Houston-based firm, specializes in high-frequency data transmission systems for defense and space applications. The partnership is expected to create at least 150 new jobs in Brevard County over the next three years. The agreement includes a 10-year contract for Lonestar Data to provide secure, low-latency data links for Sidus’s satellite network. This network supports real-time tracking of launches from Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center, as well as remote sensing operations for environmental monitoring. Both companies have expressed interest in expanding their joint ventures to include cybersecurity and artificial intelligence projects. Brevard County officials highlighted the deal as a win for the local economy, which has seen a 12% increase in tech sector employment since 2020. The agreement comes as SpaceX and Blue Origin continue to ramp up launch schedules from the Space Coast. Sidus’s CEO, Mark Johnson, said the partnership will allow the company to “scale our capabilities while keeping critical work in Florida.” The firms plan to break ground on a new facility in Palm Bay by early 2025. The site will house advanced data processing equipment and serve as a regional hub for satellite operations. Local leaders have called for increased infrastructure investments to support the growing industry, including upgrades to the Port Canaveral terminal and broadband connectivity. The deal is the largest private-sector investment in Brevard County since 2021.
