The Satellite High School girls volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Merritt Island in a playoff game on October 25, 2025, at Merritt Island’s home court. The loss ends Satellite’s season with a 16-10 overall record, while Merritt Island improves to 29-3 and advances in the postseason. The final set scores were 25-22, 25-19, and 25-15 in favor of the Mustangs.
The match was part of the regional playoff bracket, with Merritt Island dominating from the start. Merritt Island’s libero, Emily Carter, recorded 18 digs, and outside hitter Sofia Ramirez added 12 kills in the victory.
Satellite’s coach, Maria Lopez, said the team fought hard but was outmatched in key moments. “We knew Merritt Island was a tough opponent, and they proved it tonight,” Lopez said. “We’ll take the lessons we learned and apply them next season.”
Merritt Island’s head coach, David Nguyen, praised his team’s execution. “We prepared well for this match, and our players executed the game plan,” Nguyen said. “This is a big step for us in the playoffs.”
The loss marks the end of the season for Satellite, which finished fifth in the Space Coast Conference. Merritt Island, the conference champions, will face the winner of the Cape Canaveral vs. Palm Bay match in the next round of the playoffs.
