The Satellite High School freshman volleyball team extended its winning streak to 15-0 with a decisive 2-0 victory over Cocoa Beach on October 12. The game, held at Cocoa Beach High School, saw Satellite dominate both sets with scores of 25-9 and 25-11. This marks the first win for Satellite’s freshman squad this season and their third straight victory against Cocoa Beach.
The match was part of a non-conference schedule, allowing teams to build strength before conference play begins in November. Satellite’s win improves their record to 15-0, while Cocoa Beach falls to 0-3 on the season. The game was closely followed by local fans and coaches, with many noting the strong fundamentals displayed by Satellite’s players.
Head coach Sarah Mitchell praised her team’s focus during the match. “We came out with energy and executed our plays well,” she said. “This team has been working hard all season, and it showed today.” The victory also highlights the growing competitiveness of Satellite’s freshman program, which has steadily improved over the past two seasons.
Cocoa Beach’s head coach, Mark Thompson, acknowledged Satellite’s dominance but emphasized the need for his team to regroup. “We made some unforced errors early, and that cost us,” he said. “We’ll use this as a learning opportunity.” The next game for Satellite is a home match against Palm Bay on October 19, while Cocoa Beach hosts a rematch against Satellite on October 26.
