Hattaway, a Rockledge High alum, was previously named Brevard Public Schools Employee of the Year in 2025 and received the City of Rockledge Safety Employee of the Year award in 2024. He also earned the Outstanding Young Floridian Award for Public Safety in 2023. Brevard Public Schools highlighted his 'leadership, consistency, and care' in a statement, noting his role in fostering a safe and supportive environment for students. Hattaway's work extends beyond traditional law enforcement duties. He launched a lunchtime counseling program at Rockledge High and organized annual holiday gift drives that have provided aid to hundreds of students and families. Colleagues say his ability to build trust with students and connect the school to the Rockledge community has been key to his success. Hattaway's recognition follows a year of local honors, but the state-level award marks a new milestone. 'His commitment to service reflects the very best of Brevard Public Schools,' the district said in a statement. The ceremony at Rockledge High underscored the impact of Hattaway's efforts, which have included mentoring students and bridging gaps between law enforcement and the school.
