The warning comes after the Orlando Fire Department battled a fire on Arnold Palmer Drive on Feb. 23, highlighting the risks of dry conditions. Fire officials said red flag warnings are linked to the largest 10% of wildfires in the state. The National Weather Service said fires that develop during the warning will likely spread rapidly. Volusia County noted that red flag warnings are issued when relative humidity drops below 35% for four hours or more. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services defined red flag warnings as alerts for potentially hazardous fire weather conditions. Residents are asked to call 911 immediately if they spot a fire. The warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.
