The final vote for the PuroClean of Melbourne Girls Athlete of the Year is underway. Fans can cast their ballots through Friday, June 5, at noon for 13 athletes from 13 Brevard County schools who advanced from weekly voting throughout the 2025-26 school year. The selection process began in September 2025 with 34 weekly contests, drawing over 200 nominations from student-athletes across the county. This year's semifinalists include standout performers from volleyball, swimming, and basketball.
Audrey Herbert of Holy Trinity High School earned votes for her performance in volleyball, including 18 kills and two aces in a win over Astronaut on Sept. 2. Lily Gibbins of Titusville High School was nominated for her swimming achievements, where she won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke at a meet in September. Kendall Ratliff of Edgewood High School set a conference record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.23 at the 2025 Cape Coast Conference championship. Lydia Scott of Merritt Island High School contributed 10 kills and seven blocks in the Mustangs' Region 2-4A final win over Santa Fe on Oct. 29.
Erynn Moffett of West Shore High School was recognized for a 37-point, 11-rebound game in basketball. Other semifinalists include Grace Nguyen of Palm Bay High School, who led her team to a 20-3 season in soccer, and Maya Torres of Eau Gallie High School, who posted a 22-2 record in singles tennis. Voting is open to the public, with results to be announced after the deadline. The winner will be featured in a Florida Today story next week.
