Aerospace company 'Project Forge' is seeking to develop a $350 million facility at Titusville Airport in Brevard County, Florida. The project, which would focus on research, development, and launch operations, has moved closer to reality after Space Florida’s board approved a request for conduit financing three weeks ago. The company remains unnamed, but officials say a decision on the initiative is expected this month.
Kevin Daugherty, director of airports for the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority, confirmed during a recent board meeting that 'Project Forge is continuing to move forward.' He called the project 'kind of been a moving target' but emphasized that 'they do intend to make a decision this month.' Daugherty also said he plans to meet individually with board members in the coming weeks to discuss the proposal, stating, 'I think it is coming here.'
The proposed facility would add to Brevard County’s growing aerospace footprint, which already includes companies like Janicki Industries. That firm recently selected Great Falls, Montana, for its next major manufacturing campus, but local officials are hopeful Titusville Airport will become a hub for similar ventures.
Space Florida’s approval of conduit financing is a key step in the process, as it would help fund infrastructure improvements needed for the project. However, no land has been officially acquired yet, and details about the facility’s size, workforce, or specific operations remain unclear.
The airport authority has not yet released a timeline for construction, but Daugherty’s comments suggest the project is gaining momentum.
