A group called Space Coast Pro Soccer is proposing an 8,000-seat stadium near Melbourne Orlando International Airport as part of a 53.8-acre development. The stadium would host a yet-to-be-named professional soccer team in the United Soccer League. The project is located at the intersection of NASA Boulevard and Broadband Drive in Melbourne. Thomas Bonner, with Space Coast Pro Soccer, said the team plans to create a destination for sports and events. He mentioned the area has aerospace workers who could use the venue for meals and meetings. Bonner said the location is well-suited for the development. Adrian Heath, who previously coached Orlando City, will be the club’s first manager. Heath led Orlando City to two USL titles and oversaw their move to MLS. The stadium is expected to be ready by the 2028 USL season. A formal site plan and permit application are still pending. The group has not yet named the team. The project would include a stadium and other facilities on the 53.8-acre site. Bonner said the organization started in Orlando and is now expanding to Melbourne. He said the facility would also host concerts and large events. The team’s manager, Adrian Heath, said he hopes the project will bring business to the area. The stadium’s completion date is set for the 2028 season. The development is part of a larger plan to grow soccer in Brevard County. The group has not yet submitted a formal application for a conditional use permit.
