Port Canaveral officials revealed details of two major projects on July 14, 2026: a nearly doubled-sized Cruise Terminal 5 and a 13-story parking garage adjacent to Terminal 6. The upgrades cost $175 million and have generated more than 2,000 jobs in Central Florida. The terminal expansion and parking garage are now nearing completion, with construction led by Merritt Island-based Ivey’s Construction.
Cruise Terminal 5 will expand from 160,000 to 300,000 square feet, allowing for more passengers and improved operations. The new parking garage will serve Terminal 6 and is designed to handle increased demand as cruise traffic grows. Capt. John Murray, Port Canaveral CEO, said the projects aim to enhance guest experiences and operational efficiency while supporting local economic growth.
Rocky Johnson, vice president of Ivey’s Construction, highlighted the economic impact. "As a local business for over 50 years, Ivey’s can attest to the significant economic impact this project brings to the local economy," he said. Nearly 2,000 local construction workers and their families have been involved in the projects.
Port Canaveral is a key drive-to cruise market, with 80% of passengers driving to the port. The upgrades position the port to handle future growth and meet commitments from cruise lines. The projects are expected to boost tourism and business opportunities in Brevard County and surrounding areas.
