Parrish Healthcare has started its twice-yearly supply drive to gather items for people without homes in Brevard County. The Hopeful Hearts initiative, which runs through Tuesday, June 30, is a partnership with Space Coast Health Centers and LifePointe Ministries. Donors can drop off new or unused items at four Parrish locations. The drive focuses on providing essentials like water, clothing, and hygiene products during Florida’s hot months.
The most needed items include reusable water bottles, bug repellent, sunscreen, socks, deodorant, and body wipes. Donors are also asked for hats, flashlights, backpacks, underwear, feminine hygiene products, shoes, jeans, t-shirts, shorts, and nonperishable food. Bottled water and hydration packets are also welcome. Donation boxes are set up in the lobbies of Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, the Titus Landing healthcare center, the YMCA-operated fitness center in Titusville, and the Port St. John healthcare center.
The drive is part of a larger effort to support the county’s unhoused population. Last year’s event collected over 10,000 items, according to Parrish officials. This year’s campaign comes as temperatures in Brevard frequently exceed 90 degrees, with little shade available for those sleeping outdoors. Local churches and nonprofits have also helped distribute supplies in the past.
Community members can donate at any of the four locations. Items must be clean and unused. Volunteers will sort donations and deliver them to outreach programs. Parrish Healthcare said it will update the community on the drive’s progress in late June. The initiative is separate from the organization’s regular medical services but reflects its commitment to addressing local needs.
