The Parrish Health & Fitness Center in Titusville reopened May 1 after a partnership with the YMCA of Central Florida took over operations. The facility now combines clinical care from Parrish Medical Center with community wellness programs, offering services like physical therapy, nutrition counseling, and fitness classes. The ribbon-cutting ceremony drew local officials, residents, and YMCA staff, signaling a shift in how healthcare is delivered in North Brevard.
The center previously closed in late 2025 due to financial challenges, leaving a gap in services for Titusville’s 32,000 residents. The YMCA’s involvement aims to address that by integrating medical care with affordable fitness options. "This partnership ensures more people can access both healthcare and wellness programs under one roof," said YMCA of Central Florida CEO Maria Gonzalez during the event.
The facility includes updated equipment, a seniors’ fitness area, and space for group classes. It also partners with local schools to offer health screenings and workshops. Parrish Medical Center, which owns the building, will retain oversight of clinical services while the YMCA manages daily operations.
The reopening comes as Brevard County officials push to reduce health disparities in rural areas. The center will prioritize serving low-income families and seniors, with sliding-scale fees for services. A pilot program for diabetes management starts in June, targeting 200 participants.
Titusville Mayor Steve Rasmussen called the partnership "a model for how healthcare can be both accessible and sustainable." The center plans to host monthly community events, including free blood pressure checks and health fairs, starting next month.
