The ceremony followed a traditional format. A prayer was offered by a local minister, followed by the ringing of a bell at 9:01 a.m. — one minute after the first plane struck the World Trade Center. The Honor Guard then performed taps as part of the observance. Attendees included veterans, first responders, and families of 9/11 victims.
Sacrifice Park has hosted the annual event since 2002. This year’s ceremony drew an estimated 200 people, according to organizers. The park’s location near the Space Coast’s military installations made it a natural choice for the gathering.
The event concluded with a display of American flags and a moment of reflection. No fireworks or other celebratory elements were included, as is customary for Patriot Day. Organizers emphasized the importance of remembering the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the attacks.
