The investigation uncovered a network of illegal gambling operations using sophisticated devices, including stand-up slot machines, coin-push machines, and PC-based games. Authorities said the machines were found in restaurants, bars, and standalone casinos, some operating inside nail salons. The AG's office called the findings "alarming," noting the scale of the operation.
"This isn't just BINGO or Uno at the dining room table," said Assistant Attorney General Brian Uthmeier. "We've found these machines in places people wouldn't expect." The raid included locations in Titusville, Palm Bay, and Daytona Beach, with officials emphasizing the hidden nature of the gambling venues.
The seized items include tabletop machines, fish tables, and coin-operated devices. Authorities said the operation generated significant revenue, with $190,000 in cash found during the raids. The AG's office is working with local law enforcement to shut down remaining operations and prosecute those involved.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is reviewing the case for potential federal charges. Officials warned that the gambling network posed a public safety risk, with machines often located in areas frequented by children.
