More than 5,400 students across Brevard County will graduate this month, with ceremonies scheduled from May 15 through May 27 at least 22 public and private schools. The Class of 2026 includes students who will attend Florida universities and pursue careers in medicine, engineering, and business. Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Mark Rendell called the graduates “the very best” of the district, noting their resilience and commitment to excellence. The annual Top Scholars program recognizes one standout student from each high school. Astronaut High’s Paige Wasco, 18, of Titusville, is among them. With a 4.7077 weighted GPA, she earned the AP Scholar with Honor award and will attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to study civil engineering. Her goal is to work in transportation or water systems engineering. Wasco’s favorite school memory was leading the “War Eagle Welcome” for incoming freshmen during her senior year. She said the event fulfilled a personal goal she had since being a freshman. Graduation ceremonies will take place at various schools, including Cocoa High, Satellite Beach High, and West Orange High. The Class of 2026 includes students who have participated in career and technical programs, athletics, and academic competitions. Rendell emphasized that the graduates have “shown what is possible when opportunity meets determination.” The Florida Today Top Scholars list includes students from schools across the Space Coast, with many planning to attend universities in Florida and beyond.
