Orlando Health announced June 2 it will build a seven-story regional hospital and a three-story, 60,000-square-foot medical office building in Viera, Fla. The project is part of a 40-acre health and wellness campus in Borrows West, with groundbreaking expected this month. The hospital’s emergency department is scheduled to open in fall 2027, with a full buildout reaching 240 beds.
The development will be located between Lake Andrew Drive and Interstate 95, just south of Viera Boulevard. Ohme Entin, president of Orlando Health East Region and senior vice president of Orlando Health, called the project an "exciting day for this region" in a statement. The hospital will be built in phases, with the emergency department as the first major milestone.
Orlando Health said the project will add more than 1,000 jobs to Brevard County, where the health system already employs over 2,100 people across Brevard and Indian River counties. The nonprofit health system is partnering with The Viera Company on the development, which is expected to anchor one of Brevard’s fastest-growing mixed-use areas.
The hospital’s full buildout will include 240 beds, but the initial phase will focus on the emergency department. Construction is set to begin in June 2026, with the first major phase opening 18 months later. The project’s timeline and scale reflect Orlando Health’s expansion plans on Florida’s Space Coast.
The medical office building will complement the hospital, providing space for outpatient services and physician offices. The development’s location in Borrows West, a growing area south of Viera Boulevard, positions it to serve a rapidly expanding population in Brevard County.
