Orlando Health revealed Tuesday it will build a new hospital and medical office building in Viera, Brevard County. The facility, named Orlando Health Viera Hospital, will be located on a 40-acre campus in Borrows West, between Lake Andrew Drive and Interstate 95, south of Viera Boulevard. Construction is set to begin in June 2025, with the emergency department opening in fall 2027. Ohme Entin, president of Orlando Health East Region, called the project a "state-of-the-art facility" that will serve the area. The hospital will be built in phases and will eventually have 240 beds. It will include emergency services, imaging, surgical suites, and labs. A three-story medical office building will house specialty practices in cardiovascular health and neurosciences. The project is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs. Todd J. Pokrywa, president of The Viera Company, said the development aligns with Viera’s plans for medical and employment hubs. Orlando Health currently employs over 2,100 people in Brevard and Indian River counties. The hospital will be constructed on a campus designed to support future growth in health care. The Viera Company is collaborating with Orlando Health on the project. The facility will include a seven-story hospital and a 60,000-square-foot medical office building. The emergency department will be the first phase to open. The hospital will offer acute care services and support areas for patients. The medical office building will provide outpatient care for specialties like cardiology and neurology. Orlando Health said the project reflects its commitment to expanding services in the region. The hospital is expected to be fully operational by 2030.
