Orlando Health has announced plans to build a seven-story regional hospital and a three-story, 60,000-square-foot medical office building on a 40-acre campus in Borrows West, Viera. The project, called Orlando Health Viera Hospital, is expected to break ground in June 2026 with an emergency department opening in fall 2027. The hospital will eventually have 240 beds and include imaging, labs, surgical suites, and other services. The site is located between Lake Andrew Drive and Interstate 95, south of Viera Boulevard. Ohme Entin, president of Orlando Health East Region, called the development an "exciting day" for the region and the health system. The nonprofit will work with The Viera Company on the project. Orlando Health said the development will create more than 1,000 jobs, adding to its existing 2,100 employees in Brevard and Indian River counties. The hospital will be built in phases, starting with the emergency department. The medical office building will house outpatient services and support spaces. The project is part of Orlando Health’s expansion on Florida’s Space Coast. The campus is in one of Brevard County’s fastest-growing mixed-use areas. The health system said the facility will serve as a regional hub for care. Construction is expected to begin this month, with the full hospital opening after the emergency department. The Viera Company is a key partner in the development. The project will include parking, landscaping, and other infrastructure. Orlando Health emphasized the importance of the hospital to the local economy and healthcare access. The medical office building will be completed after the hospital’s initial phases. The health system has not yet released a timeline for the full buildout beyond 2027.
