Eastern Florida State College’s softball team improved to 16-6 in the Citrus Conference with a doubleheader sweep of No. 15 Seminole State College Tuesday at Titan Softball Complex in Melbourne. The 10th-ranked Titans won the first game 9-4 and the second 11-0, marking their 30th victory of the season. This is the third consecutive year the team has reached 30 wins.
Madison Velazquez led the offense in the first game, hitting a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning. The Titans took a 3-1 lead before Seminole State tied the game 3-3 in the third. Eastern Florida responded with two runs in the same inning to take control. Velazquez later doubled and scored on Jaelynne Whipple’s triple in the fifth, part of a four-run inning that sealed the 9-4 win.

Kerissa Howell and Jessica Merk each had an RBI double, and Merk’s single in the fifth inning extended the lead. The shutout victory improved EFSC’s conference record to 16-6 and kept them atop the Citrus Conference standings.
Head coach Sarah Mitchell praised her team’s resilience. “We’ve been preparing for big moments all season,” she said. “This game showed our ability to perform under pressure.” The Titans’ next matchup is Thursday against No. 8 Valencia College in a key conference series.
