Allegra at Cocoa, a 248-unit apartment community in northwest Cocoa, has finished construction and will host a grand opening event on July 16. The project, developed by Lennar Corporation, is located at 1520 West Cass Street, adjacent to the Cocoa Village shopping area. The complex includes one- and two-bedroom units, some with private balconies, and features a fitness center, pool, and dog park.
The development is part of a broader push to address housing demand in Brevard County, where population growth has outpaced new construction in recent years. According to county records, Cocoa’s population increased by 8.2% between 2020 and 2023, straining existing infrastructure. Allegra at Cocoa is one of three new multifamily projects planned for the area this year.
Lennar spokesperson Sarah Mitchell said the community is designed to cater to young professionals and families. "We focused on creating a mix of amenities that reflect the needs of today’s renters," she said. The complex includes energy-efficient appliances, smart home technology, and a central courtyard with outdoor seating.
The grand opening event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the units, and a meet-and-greet with local officials. Residents are expected to move in by late July. The project received permits in December 2022 and broke ground in March 2023.
Allegra at Cocoa is the second Lennar project in Cocoa this year, following the completion of a 180-unit complex in the same neighborhood. The developer has not yet released lease rates, but similar units in the area currently average $1,800 to $2,200 per month.
The project has faced no major delays, according to city officials. Construction was completed ahead of schedule, with final inspections concluding in June. The complex is expected to generate approximately 150 jobs during its operational phase, including property management and maintenance roles.
