Residents of West Palm Beach saw a rocket plume from a NASA and SpaceX launch this week. The bright streak was visible from hundreds of miles away, according to local observers. The mission took place from Cape Canaveral on Wednesday at 9:23 a.m. The rocket reached space before landing on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean. SpaceX officials did not immediately comment on the launch. The event was captured on video by residents in West Palm Beach, who shared clips on social media. Some described the sight as 'unbelievable' and 'amazing.' The launch was part of a series of missions to deliver supplies to the International Space Station. NASA said the mission was the 23rd commercial resupply flight to the ISS. The rocket carried over 6,000 pounds of science experiments and crew supplies. SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket has launched more than 100 times since 2010. The company plans to launch another mission next month from Cape Canaveral. Local officials said the visibility of the plume in West Palm Beach was unusual but not unexpected. 'It’s a reminder of how much activity there is at the Space Coast,' said Brevard County Commissioner Wayne Williams. The next launch is scheduled for February 27 from Kennedy Space Center.
