A secretive space company called Project Horseshoe is considering a $230 million expansion at Titusville’s Space Coast Regional Airport, according to airport officials. The company is in early negotiations for financing through Space Florida and is evaluating a 1.1 million square foot site at the airport. No decisions have been made, and the project remains in the site-selection phase. Director of Airports Kevin Daugherty confirmed during an August 20 board meeting that lease negotiations are ongoing and the project is still preliminary.
Project Horseshoe is described as a "mystery space-industry company" in a Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority memo. The company has not publicly disclosed details about its operations or backers, though it is reportedly backed by top venture-capital firms. The airport authority is working through infrastructure, access, permitting, and funding considerations as part of the evaluation process. The company could eventually occupy a corporate campus spanning the first two phases of the Space Coast Innovation Park, a development planned off Grissom Parkway on the airport’s west side.
The Space Coast Innovation Park is currently undergoing land-clearing activities ahead of a Sept. 16 groundbreaking ceremony. Phases 1 and 2 of the park will include construction of five industrial buildings across 99 acres, with each building ranging from 206,700 to 248,160 square feet. The development also includes an extension of Challenger Avenue to connect with Grissom Parkway. Airport officials have not yet confirmed whether Project Horseshoe will be part of the park’s first phases, but the site is among the options being considered.
Daugherty emphasized that no final decisions have been made, and the project is still in the early stages. The airport authority is working with the company to address logistical and financial requirements. Space Florida has not yet confirmed its involvement in providing the requested financing, but the state agency has previously supported other aerospace-related projects in Brevard County. The potential expansion could add to the region’s growing aerospace sector, which includes companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin.
The airport’s west side has been identified as a key area for future development, with the Space Coast Innovation Park serving as a focal point. The park’s first phase is expected to begin construction soon, but the timeline for Project Horseshoe’s potential move remains unclear. Airport officials said they will provide updates as negotiations progress.
