An unidentified aerospace company, known only as Project Forge, is evaluating a parcel near State Road 407 at Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville for a potential $350 million development. The company is conducting due diligence on the site, which could include research, development, and launch operations. Space Florida's board approved a request for conduit financing for the initiative three weeks ago, according to airport officials.
The project is still in early stages, but Director of Airports Kevin Daugherty told the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority board on June 18 that Project Forge intends to make a decision this month. He said he plans to meet with board members individually in the coming weeks to discuss the proposal. 'It is coming here,' Daugherty said during the meeting, adding that the company has been 'a moving target' but remains committed to the site.
A memo from the airport authority states that Project Forge is reviewing zoning, wetlands, and access points for the authority-owned parcel. The company has also begun conceptual site layouts, according to the document. The only public information about the project comes from a PowerPoint slide presented at Space Florida's June 2 board meeting, which described Project Forge as a 'space-industry company.'
The company plans to finance the project through tax-exempt and taxable-productivity bonds, with Space Florida acting as a conduit issuer. Other Space Florida programs may also be used, according to the slide. However, no additional details about the company's identity, timeline, or specific plans have been released publicly.
The proposal has generated interest in Titusville, a city already home to NASA's Kennedy Space Center and a growing aerospace sector. If approved, the project could bring significant economic activity to the area, though officials have not yet confirmed the scope or timeline of construction.
