A 32.65-acre parcel in West Melbourne has been sold for a mixed-use development that will include a grocery store, retail space, and 300 apartments. The sale was announced June 10 by Space Coast Town Center, which is building the project along U.S. 192 near St. Johns Heritage Parkway. This parcel is part of a 225-acre master plan that will eventually include residential, hotel, office, and retail space.
Barron Collier Investment Partners will develop the site in two phases. The first phase will feature about 77,700 square feet of retail space anchored by a grocery store and 300 apartment units. A second phase could add up to 70,000 square feet of commercial space. Developers did not share a construction timeline or details about the grocery store’s future tenant.
The larger development is planned to eventually include over 2,000 residential units, 300 hotel rooms, 360,000 square feet of office space, and 257,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Chipotle and Panda Express have already been announced for the site, which officials say will become a neo-urban hub.
The project is located near major aerospace and defense employers including NASA, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman. The development is part of a broader effort to expand commercial and residential options in West Melbourne, a area with growing demand for housing and services.
