Merritt Island residents and visitors will have a chance to explore the revitalized Merritt Park Place district during a pedestrian Sip & Stroll event on Friday, April 24, 2026. The event, sponsored by Community Advocacy for Merritt Island, will transform McLeod Street, Tangerine Avenue, and N. Grove Street into a car-free zone from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Local businesses will participate, offering samples and promotions to attendees.
The Sip & Stroll aims to highlight the recent improvements to the area, which include new storefronts, street lighting, and public art installations. Organizers say the event will give residents a chance to see the changes firsthand and support local merchants. 'This is about connecting people to the community and showing what’s been accomplished,' said a spokesperson for the advocacy group.
Participating businesses range from coffee shops to boutique stores, with many offering exclusive discounts to attendees. Food trucks will line the streets, and live music will play in the parking lot at the corner of McLeod and Tangerine. The event is free to attend, though organizers encourage visitors to bring reusable cups to reduce waste.
The revitalization of Merritt Park Place has been ongoing since 2024, with funding from a mix of private investors and local government grants. The Sip & Stroll follows a series of similar events in other parts of Brevard County aimed at boosting foot traffic and economic activity. Plans for future events in the district are under discussion, according to the advocacy group.
